Of all the pains associated with elderly people, arthritis is kind of pain they usually feel. The word “arthritis” originated from the “arthro-” which means joint, and the suffix “–itis” which means inflammation. As a matter of fact, there are more than a hundred various types of arthritis. The most common type of arthritis is known as osteoarthritis or otherwise called degenerative joint disease (DJD). Osteoarthritis is prevalent to old-age people, but it can also be caused when there is infection in the joint or when the joint has been subjected to some kind of trauma or injury. In order to lessen or eliminate the pain caused by arthritis, most physicians prescribe narcotic analgesic drugs (or pain killers) such as tramadol HCL.
